What's going on at Delta
and who's helping make it happen
Welcome to our Driven Doer series! Every month, we highlight the passionate, motivated people who help Delta work toward its vision of achieving a Midwest region in which all communities and landscapes thrive.
Meet Emily Rhodes who manages projects in the Communities portfolio at Delta and provides programmatic support for our work on community development and urban infrastructure.
I am a specialist at Delta Institute. I manage projects focused on community planning and development, including communities transitioning away from coal.
I love big cities and get really energized by my commute to work. There is some magic in walking through the city and getting swept up in the morning rush. But I love that Delta allows me to work in communities of all sizes, like Sebewaing, Michigan or Michigan City, Indiana. It is the privilege of working with these local partners that inspires me and keeps me going. (My Delta co-workers are also a pretty great reason to show up to work each day!)
There is so much happening at Delta that I am excited about! Throughout January and February, Delta will be highlighting our coal work and releasing some resources for coal communities. Our Coal Plant Redevelopment Roadmap will be available for communities looking for guidance on what to expect when a coal plant closure is announced, along with a series of tools and resources to plan for the transition. We are also focusing our next Glass Half Full event on the high-level and local impacts of coal plant closures. Should be a great discussion! (More details to come soon)
Always discovering, innovating, evolving
There is a little beach just south of Grand Haven, Michigan that is pure magic (Pure Michigan!) all year-round.
