November 19: 4th Annual Green Soapbox "Disrupting the Energy Status Quo"
The Delta Emerging Leaders is hosting its Green Soapbox event, themed "Disrupting the Energy Status Quo," on November 19 at Revolution Brewing. Come out and enjoy the renowned Revolution house brews and appetizers, raffle prizes, and exciting presentations from speakers talking about our energy future and how likely (or unlikely) it is to change!
Americans have among the highest per-capita rates of waste generation in the world. Join our panel to consider the future of waste. They will shine the spotlight on what happens to our waste, consider how to realize value from materials we send to landfill, and discuss whether the ultimate goal – zero waste – can be a reality.
March 2013 (multiple dates): Delta Institute and Cook County present free workshops on the new deconstruction ordinance
Cook County’s new Demolition, Debris and Diversion Ordinance came into effect last November. Construction, demolition and deconstruction contractors can get tips at tricks at one of the four workshops on March 20, 21, 27 or 28. Municipal employees – from City managers and planners, to code enforcement officers – can learn all their community needs to know at one of two workshops on March 13 or 14.
