Three of our affiliates have recently changed their names to show they belong to the growing Delta network of organizations building a sustainable future for the Great Lakes region.
Our newly renamed affiliates retain the same management and staff and offer the same high-quality consulting services, technical and financial assistance that have built Delta’s reputation as a catalyst for regional change. All contracts and agreements remain in effect, whether written under the old name or the new. New affiliateWe’re pleased to introduce the newest member of the growing Delta family: the Delta Pollution Prevention and Energy Efficiency (P2E2) Center. The center provides technical assistance and financing for pollution prevention and energy efficiency projects. It also helps farmers and landowners combat climate change by trading carbon credits on the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX®). New facesWe’re proud to announce the addition of two new members to our outstanding staff. Christine Slattery is a city planner and lawyer with more than 15 years of experience in local government, real estate and non-profit community development. She joined the Delta Institute as Senior Associate Director to focus on real estate projects relating to brownfields redevelopment and infill development. Formerly director of the Chicago office of the Trust for Public Land, a national land conservation organization, Christine oversaw land acquisition in the Chicago area, including several brownfields, for redevelopment as public parks and trails. She served for six and a half years as deputy commissioner for zoning in the Chicago Department of Planning and Development. There she managed the negotiation of planned development agreements for large-scale developments and the adoption of design guidelines and other land development regulations. She is an active board member for the Beverly Area Planning Association in her neighborhood on Chicago’s southwest side. Elise Zechowski, LEED AP, recently joined the Delta Institute as Associate to help build a regional sustainable development program, with emphasis on sustainable design. Elise was formerly Project Coordinator for the Chicago Center for Green Technology. There she developed and directed a continuing education certificate program, Green Tech U, focused on green building and sustainable development. She also supervised facility related management, including green cleaning and operations, landscape planning, energy efficiency audits and environmentally preferred purchasing. Elise helped launch the Green Building Resource Center at Chicago Center for Green Technology. She provided technical assistance in all facets of green building design and site planning, including LEED submittal review and architectural drawings. Elise was also instrumental in creating educational partnerships among building trade organizations, academia, government and community stakeholders to further the interests of green building and sustainable development around the region.
