Project Background
The Market Barriers to Green Development Initiative is a broad-based dialogue and research project that examined how the market may intentionally or unintentionally create barriers to green development practices. The initiative was convened and facilitated by the U.S. EPA Region 5, the Delta Institute, and the Northeast-Midwest Institute. It was funded by the Northeast-Midwest Institute through a U.S. EPA Brownfields Training, Research, and Technical Assistance Grant.
The research process involved the following four phases:
- Identify the most significant market impediments to green development practices;
- Develop strategies to eliminate/minimize targeted market barriers;
- Research and begin to implement strategies to remove market barriers;
- Communicate our findings and success through write papers, reports, additional research, and outreach.
If you have any questions about the initiative, please contact Chris Choi (U.S. EPA Region 5) at choi.chris@epa.gov or Elise Zelechowski (Delta Institute) at ezelechowski@delta-institute.org.
