What's going on at Delta
and who's helping make it happen
Once again, it’s time for our Driven Doer series! Here, we highlight the passionate, motivated people who help advance Delta’s mission of achieving a resilient Great Lakes environment and economy.
This month, we’d like you to meet Kelly Farley, the dedicated, passionate leader of the Rebuilding Exchange, and a former Delta employee.
What do you do?
I’m the Executive Director of the Rebuilding Exchange (RX), a nonprofit social enterprise in Chicago. Our mission is to create a market for reclaimed building materials. We accomplish this by diverting building materials from landfills and making them accessible for reuse through our retail warehouse, promoting sustainable deconstruction practices, providing education and job training programs, and creating innovative models for sustainable reuse.
What drives you and inspires you to get up in the morning?
I am committed to making the RX better every day. That means many different things.
How did you first get involved with Delta?
I started working for Delta in 2010. Delta taught me a great deal about climate change and demonstrated innovative solutions to some of our region’s trickiest problems. Personally, Delta provided me so much opportunity to grow in my career, allowing me to take on more responsibility and challenge myself to do more. I have a passion for making nonprofits work more effectively, allowing them to make a bigger impact. My years at Delta fueled that passion and taught me new ways of accomplishing my goals.
