What do you call an individual who translates their passion for the environment into action and collaboration? Here at Delta Institute we call them Driven Doers.

Over the past year, we’ve introduced you to 15 amazing individuals who are doing just that. The people featured in our Driven Doer series are Delta staff, board members, partners, and supporters. They keep us moving forward and increase our impact. The Driven Doer series is a group of like-minded individuals, and one couple, who are striving to create a more sustainable Chicago and Great Lakes region.

Some highlights from our series so far:

What drives you and inspires you to get up in the morning?

“Being able to make a positive change in the world. Even if it is small in magnitude, people change the world every day.” – Michael Harrington, Outreach Associate at Elevate Energy, co-chair of the Delta Emerging Leaders (DELs)

“Continuous learning (and good weather).” – Megan Walton, Administrative Assistant at Delta Institute

“I believe you need to figure out where your talents and the world’s needs meet. That’s where you will find your destiny. I’ve found mine. I love meeting people and helping us to connect.” – Beth Urech, Speech Consultant with Speaking Unlimited

Favorite place in the Great Lakes Region:

“Favorite place to enjoy Lake Michigan is behind the Adler Planetarium, looking out over the lake.” – Nicolette Stosur-Bassett, grad student and sustainability professional working in the energy and waste industries

“The welcoming canopy of a certain tree nicknamed “The Grandpa Tree” in Wisconsin. (Home state! On Wisconsin!)” – Melissa Mayer, former chair of Delta’s  Board of Directors

Delta in 4 words or less:

“Creative. Pragmatic. Willing. Impact-Focused.” – Bill Schleizer, President and CEO at Delta Institute

“Environmental gurus, distinguished, reliable, and service-oriented.” – Ernst Pierre-Toussaint, Director of Facilities Planning and Operations for the Field Museum

“Young, Hip, Geeky-Cool (can I say that?), and Forward-thinking.” – Veronica Kyle, Chicagoland Outreach Director for Faith in Place
