Welcome to our Driven Doer series! Every month, we highlight the passionate, motivated people who help Delta work toward its vision of achieving a Midwest region in which all communities and landscapes thrive.

Meet Ann McCabe, Delta Institute Board Member.

What do you do?

I’m a consultant with over 25 years of energy and environmental policy experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors. For the last year, I’ve been the interim executive director of The Climate Registry, created 10 years ago by states and Canadian provinces to provide a platform for high-quality greenhouse gas reporting and verification. Last year, I was part of an 11-state delegation to the UN Climate Conference in Bonn, the ninth such delegation co-led by The Climate Registry. As a former state public utility commissioner, I continue speaking on electric grid modernization and related issues. I fundraise for the annual MidAmerica Regulatory Conference of 14 state public utility commissioners.

What drives you and inspires you to get up in the morning?

Calling on my vast network to help clients, do my work and deepen my understanding of issues.

How are you currently involved with Delta; what’s exciting about the project?

As a board member, I’m spreading the word about the Delta Institute’s work while recruiting sponsors and attendees for the September 20th anniversary fundraiser. One of the projects I highlight is Lumin, a software service for low-income consumers that uses smart grid data to help low- and moderate-income consumers pay bills, get assistance and lower energy consumption. Lumin has two pilots in the ComEd service territory and one with Con Edison as part of New York’s Reforming the Energy Vision demonstration projects.
