According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, approximately 122 million people live forcibly displaced from their homes in 2024. Moreover, researchers at the Institute for Economics & Peace estimate that this number can grow to 1.2 billion people being forcibly displaced by 2050 as a result from climate change impacts like droughts that trigger food insecurity, conflicts over access to water, and the impacts of intensifying natural disasters around the globe. These challenges have many more people asking questions like: What role will the Midwest play in climate migration patterns, and what can we do today about it? Please join Delta Institute for a special panel discussion featuring discussion on this important topic: Climate Refugees. About this year's topic Food plays a vital role in our lives—and it is also one of the most consequential factors in the fight against climate change. In the United States, the agriculture sector contributes about 11% of the country’s overall greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, about 30-40% of all food that’s produced in the US ultimately ends up as food waste! On October 16, expert speakers will join us to discuss how to scale regenerative agriculture to overcome climate challenges and embrace innovations to the food system, including aspects that address soil health, food waste, and more. Join us for food and drinks as we discuss sustainable food technologies, impacts on agriculture, and everything else you might want […]
