According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, approximately 122 million people live forcibly displaced from their homes in 2024. Moreover, researchers at the Institute for Economics & Peace estimate that this number can grow to 1.2 billion people being forcibly displaced by 2050 as a result from climate change impacts like droughts that trigger food insecurity, conflicts over access to water, and the impacts of intensifying natural disasters around the globe.
