Woodlawn Community Juneteenth Celebration and BioBlitz

Please join Blacks in Green and Delta Institute for our Woodlawn Community Juneteenth Celebration and BioBlitz! We have identified several vacant sites in the Woodlawn community that can be converted to GI and become part of the West Woodlawn's Sustainable Square Mile pilot. Citizen scientists who participate in the BioBlitz will not only collect valuable data about the species present in the area prior to GI installation but will also learn about GI and help Blacks in Green and Delta Institute envision what sustainable and inclusive development in Woodlawn should look like.

Residents of Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood have identified a need to reduce stormwater flooding and the number of vacant parcels in their community. Green Infrastructure (GI) can be installed on vacant properties to deliver ecosystem services such as stormwater capture and filtration.
