    What is Green Soapbox? Green Soapbox is an annul event, organized by the Delta Emerging Leaders Associate Board, that explores an environmental issue impacting our local community. You are invited to join in our first virtual Green Soapbox discussion with local experts participating in a panel. This year’s topic will focus on understanding shoreline erosion in the City of Chicago and how communities are working address the related challenges. There is a suggested donation of $10 to register.   • Webinar: What’s Next? The Future of Land Stewardship in Illinois

    Join us on September 18 for webinar marking the culmination of a collaborative project recently completed by Delta Institute, Natural Land Institute (NLI), Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation (JDCF), Openlands, and Illinois Environmental Council (IEC) to better understand the state of land stewardship in Illinois and to develop and pilot interventions to build stewardship capacity for Illinois’s conservation land trusts. This work is generously supported by the Grand Victoria Foundation. Attendees will learn about what we learned and our vision for the future of conservation in Illinois. Why Cannabis? Cannabis is a rapidly evolving industry nationwide, and especially in Illinois since the Cannabis Regulation in Tax Act went into effect on January 1, 2020. However, there are still many considerations that need attention and dialogue to ensure that the industry grows in an environmentally sustainable way and through a lens of promoting equity. Cannabis is the most energy-intensive agricultural crop in the United States, requiring both heavy water consumption and energy. Beginning July 1, 2021, please direct your mail and other related contact information to the address listed above. Specifically, be sure to update our suite number to 1760. Why are we moving? As the State of Illinois and City of Chicago have now entered Phase 5 of the pandemic recovery plan, we at Delta are moving into a new space that provides more flexibility for our staff to work remotely. Our new office space is more cost-effective and efficient for accommodating a new hybrid working environment.
