  • A Thriving Midwest: Spring 2021

Spring is entering full bloom here in the Midwest, and we are taking the season as an opportunity to appreciate our region's beauty, natural resources, and the communities that help the Midwest thrive. Ultimately—even through all the uncertainty many of us have experienced this past year—I feel that we are still advancing our goals toward building a stronger, more resilient future for a thriving Midwest. Thanks to Delta's many partners, funders, and supporters, we are happy to see us making significant impacts in our partners' communities. There are many projects, impact figures, and goals to list, but below are a few of our favorites. • Green Soap Box 2021: Cannabis Sustainability and Equity in Illinois

What is Green Soap Box? Green Soap Box is an annual event, organized by the Delta Emerging Leaders Associate Board, that explores an environmental issue impacting our local community. You are invited to join in our next virtual Green Soap Box discussion with local experts participating in a panel. This year's topic will focus on Cannabis Sustainability and Equity in Illinois. Cannabis is the most energy-intensive agricultural crop in the United States, requiring both heavy water consumption and energy. Parts of the Illinois Act worked to address some of these concerns, including required measurements of water runoff, limits on energy consumption, and more. Our event […]
